SURFACE PREPARATION

Surface preparation is the foundation to any successful project. No matter the industry, we have the knowledge, equipment, and experience to meet your needs.

We are experienced in all methods and techniques of surface preparation, as dictated by the type of surface (metals, concrete, etc) and degree of deterioration. Each project has unique conditions that will require a specific cleaning and/or removal method of the contaminants prior to painting.

Abrasive Blasting Powertool Cleaning High-Pressure Waterblasting
Abrasive blasting is one of the most effective and frequently used cleaning methods we utilize. Atsalis Brothers works with the most technologically advanced equipment on the market to blend various types of abrasives, including steel grit, to achieve the specified degree of cleaning. Hand and power tool cleaning are cost-effective methods typically used when the surface coatings have minor damage and full removal is not required. We also use high pressure waterblasting to remove coatings and other contaminants, while minimizing exposures to employees and the environment.

PAINTING

For more than five decades we have been applying coatings to all types of surfaces and structures. This experience provides us with a unique knowledge of the many coatings available to the industry.

Our experience also affords us the wisdom to understand that new coating products are emerging as we speak. For this reason we continually research and train our employees on the latest applications and techniques using the newest tools available so as to provide the maximum performance as indented by the manufacturer’s specifications.

PLATFORM RIGGING

No two jobs are alike. Each one presents a new challenge, such as working in adverse weather conditions or providing safe work access to places that are hard to reach.

That’s why our crew is highly versed in specialized rigging techniques and procedures to ensure complete safety and quality workmanship. We engineer and construct everything from tailor-made scaffolding and rigging systems to weather-resistant enclosures, so that we can finish your project on schedule — even under the most severe weather conditions.

LEAD ABATEMENT

Atsalis Brothers is the leader in innovation when it comes to lead abatement. As far back as the early ’80s, when lead abatement was not regulated, we had the vision and commitment to protect our employees and the environment.  We implemented programs for training, surveillance, and monitoring lead hazards years before the lead standard was enacted in 1993.

We also understood early on that in order to minimize exposures to both our employees and the environment, we would need to develop our own specialized equipment. In the early 1990’s, we contracted the services of a well-known blasting equipment manufacturer and built the first portable dust collector in the industry. This innovation continued with many other pieces of specialized equipment, including our patented self-contained, portable, elevating work trailers, which minimize contaminant exposure, and collect and contain spent abrasive.

CONTAINMENT

We engineer and build our containments in strick compliance with SSPC (The Society for Protective Coatings) containment guides and EPA regulations.

Our containments utilize negative air pressure to draw contaminants to our high capacity dust collectors, which are equipped with filters that keep emissions to the lowest amount possible. We take special care to see to it that all pollutants are in compliance with the EPA emissions and waste disposal regulations.
